About Today I Am Yellow

How To Make A Dino Roar

Notes From The Author:

This story is about a Dino trying to ROAR with  rhyming words and playful illustrations that make it enticing for all ages. But there is also an unspoken depth

that holds space for parents who quietly wonder if they did too much—or not enough—the ache of loving fiercely, and the courage it takes to loosen your grip when love begins to ask for something different.

It offers reassurance not judgment.

This book whispers a radical idea:

“Sometimes the most loving thing is to remove pressure and trust the becoming.”

The dinosaur isn’t broken. He isn’t delayed. He isn’t behind. He just hasn’t roared—yet.

The story honors the dignity of timing.  It says:

"Your voice is yours.

It doesn’t need to arrive on anyone else’s schedule".

*Joy comes before competence. *Connection comes before confidence. *Laughter comes before the roar. That ordering is everything.

This book meets grief without naming it.

For parents who carry loss—of children, of innocence, of the future they imagined.

It reminds us that love, at its best, doesn’t rush or demand— it waits and delights when the voice finally comes. That’s the kind of book that doesn’t shout.

It sits beside you. And stays.

Where’s your roar?

—Kris D. Massé  (Memé )

About Today I Am Yellow

I Love You More Than Peaches Notes From The Author:

This is the second book in my cannon. It is especially  tender and close to my heart. Its beginning came from one of those parenting moments

you wish you could take back— when what you said isn’t really what you MEANT.

( Don't we all have those?)

I found myself making a big deal about

a mess having to do with a can of peaches.

I paused. The next words out of my mouth were...

“I love you MORE than peaches.”

This book is more than what it says. Its underlying message is: I love you no matter what and more than anything.  And I’d give you the world if I could.

An unconditional love that cannot be bought, earned, spent, or even given. It is simply ever-present.

As parents, we can’t take back our mistakes.

But what we can do is offer an outpouring

 of love and gentleness.

And in loving, we learn how to forgive ourselves.

This is a book to give to every child in your life.

When did a significant person in your life hear these words from you?—

"I love you more than ANYTHING!”

(And yes if you're listening--to the one who lights up a room--- I wrote this book for you.)

—Kris D. Massé  (Madré)

Today I Am Yellow Notes From The Author:

  What Color Are You Today?

This whimsical book teaches about colors--

with vibrant illustrations and pages bursting with color.

This book is my canon—the light where all my stories begin. This is my heart and this is my truth. It is through color that we see the world, make sense of it, and find our place in it.

Children see the world in wonderous, luminous color, imagination, magic and dreams that are literally

-- limitless.

The underlying intention is to honor this—by celebrating the colors we see and by giving them away.

Honestly—sometimes being in the world feels like being a violin in a marching band—or a cathedral in a shopping mall. The noise, the hurry, the constant urgency can make it feel like stillness is something we’re expected to give up.

But I don’t experience the world that way. I notice the variance in things—the pause before a laugh, the way light changes a room, the moment a child hesitates before trying again. Those details aren’t background to me; they’re the point.

That way of seeing can feel exposed in a world that values speed and volume, especially after loss, when everything already feels tender. But it’s also where my stories live. I write for the quiet places. For the

in-between moments.

For the colors that don’t shout, but stay.

I have come to accept that most people don't see the world or people the way I do-- but in my world when we choose the kind of day we’ll have--

at its very brightest moment is:

" Today, I am Yellow."

About Today I Am Yellow

Whimsical Pages The Gift of Reading What Colors Do You See?

When was the last time you read to a child?

There is so much wonderment seeing the world through their eyes.  If only we would get out the sidewalk chalk on our hands and knees. Or get out  reams of paper with our crayons and markers and draw what we see to our hearts content.

I get more back— than I ever give.

 Do you?

These whimsical pages included in each of the books-- are especially fun while reading-- to say... "Do you see the horse?  The cookies?  What about the cake?"

Giving the gift of reading is priceless and timeless.

I thank my wonderful parents for instilling a love of reading so early for me.

Sometimes a book is more than a story.  It can be a light in the dark, a quiet friend during moments alone, or a steady hand when the world feels unfamiliar.

What colors do YOU see?
